Grundy CF named "Organization of the Year"

The Community Foundation of Grundy County has been selected at the 2014 “Organization of the Year” by the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce and Industry!

The Foundation was nominated and selected due to two major events in 2014:  tornado response and “Non-Profit Tools for Success.”

After the tornado struck Diamond and Coal City, Illinois, in November 2013, the Foundation received over $400,000 in cash donations then partnered with three other Grundy non-profits to distribute the donations as mini grants to affected residents and small businesses, wrapping up in June 2014.

Also in June 2014, the Foundation launched a new program designed to bring technical assistance to area not-for-profit organizations.  “Grundy Non-Profit Tools for Success” is a monthly after-hours for the board, staff, and volunteers of area organizations to gather and learn more about a function of their work.  Past topics have included human resources, marketing, planned giving, grantwriting, and board development.  Providing technical assistance to non-profits improves the quality of their work, therefore the quality of life of our residents.

It is the mission of the Community Foundation of Grundy County to improve the quality of life in Grundy County through leadership and philanthropy…forever.
