For the third consecutive year, the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership and DeKalb County Community Foundation are supporting local nonprofits to grow philanthropy in our community through Give Local DeKalb County. Give Local DeKalb County, a local version of the national event Give Local America, will be held on May 3, 2016. This 24-hour online giving day provides much needed funds to local causes and nonprofit organizations that tackle the critical challenges in the DeKalb County community.
Starting May 3, the community is encouraged to flex their philanthropy muscle by going online to www.givelocaldekalbcounty.org and donating to one of 68 participating nonprofits. At a time when state financing is compromised or in flux, our local nonprofits are especially in need of support. The impact from this one day of giving is felt for months and years to follow.
To allow for even greater impact, every donation receives proportional matching funds from a pool of over $53,000. Through the match, each donation leverages additional funding for organizations right here in DeKalb County! The proportional match is made possible from the generous support of our Community Partners.
“On behalf of the children and families in our community that will continue to utilize all the services provided by dedicated agencies that participate in Give Local DeKalb County, thank you in advance for your support,” said Susan Petersen, GLDC Committee Member and 4-C Executive Director. “We are proud to live in a community that cares so much for all its citizens, and meets the challenge to support these services.”
Join us and hundreds of communities across the United States in a 24-hour online giving challenge to raise funds for local causes. In 2015, Give Local America raised over $68 million dollars for nonprofits and Give Local DeKalb County generated nearly $190,000 in a single day!
