The Freeport Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the 2015 Matthew A. Marvin Community Impact Award has been given to Alan Wenzel.  Wenzel accepted the award at the Foundation’s Fall Grant and Donor reception on October 22, 2015.  The award recognizes an individual who has selflessly served the Northwest Illinois community with vision, humility, dedication and enthusiasm.

Alan has made major contributions to northwest Illinois in many areas.  Along with his position as a speech instructor, Wenzel has also provided a pivotal role in developing community leaders through his facilitation of the Leadership Institute at Highland Community College.  Alan has also served on several non-profit charitable boards.   In addition to the recognition, Alan Wenzel was awarded $1,000 to present to a non-profit 501(c) (3) of his choice.  Mr. Wenzel chose Mother Hubbard’s Kiddie Cupboard, an organization that provides baby supplies and personal care items to young mothers, as the recipient of this cash award.
