The Minooka Community High School chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America welcomed guest speaker Julie Buck, executive director of the Community Foundation of Grundy County, to the club’s Thursday, May 2, meeting.
Buck educated members on the difference between a for-profit and a nonprofit type of business.
“Every career an FBLA member strives for has the potential to become an employable career within the nonprofit community,” she stated.
Buck continued by informing members on the structure, direction and goals maintained by nonprofit organizations, the amount of networking potential available within these organizations, and the need for sound financial management so nonprofits may operate productively.
Buck closed the meeting by inviting members to consider applying to nonprofit organizations when searching for future employment, or even consider sitting on the board of directors. She also detailed the history and uniqueness of the Community Foundation of Grundy County, explaining that the Foundation provides financial philanthropy through donor donations, which then directly supports a variety of benefactors within Grundy County.
