Created to honor the charitable wishes of Bob & Pam Bowman, the DeKalb County Community Foundation introduces a new donor advised fund, the Bob & Pam Bowman Fund. With the passing of Bob in November of 2016, this fund will continue to make memories in his name.
As their story goes, Bob was born and raised in DeKalb and Pam in Waterman. Both grew up in DeKalb County and attended Waterman High School. Married as high school sweethearts, the Bowmans spent the next 53 years learning, living, and contributing to the community they love.
In early 2016, the Bowmans met with a few close friends to explore and discuss options for their generosity. Their desire was to give back and help others in the immediate community. As a local organization serving DeKalb County, the Community Foundation was a great fit and aligned with their desires. On November 3, 2016, the Bob & Pam Bowman Fund was established.
On November 28, 2016, a few short weeks after creating the fund, Bob’s courageous four-year battle with cancer ended. His memory will live on forever in the number of lives he influenced. And new memories will be created through the continued generosity of the Bob & Pam Bowman Fund.
At the Community Foundation, we are extremely grateful to the Bowmans for taking their idea of community and making us a partner in it. Through this donor advised fund, their philanthropy will continue on forever. If you would like to make a gift to the Bob & Pam Bowman Fund or would like to explore creating a fund of your own, please contact Executive Director Dan Templin, 815-748-5383 or [email protected].
